GIFT DIY: Lotion Bars

Gift DIY Lotion Bar top.JPG

Winter, for the majority of the USA, means cold dark days accompanied with chapped lips and hands. Can you tell I love winter? These quick DIY gifts are inspired to bring a little more cheer into the days following the holidays.

Lotion bars are awesome- they can never 'over lotion' you, they fit in a purse, and they still smell fantastic. An added bonus- they take about 15 total active minutes to make. WIN!

What you'll need for DIY Lotion Bars:

Get your Amazon Prime account ready- everything can be found there.

Bar Mold

8oz. Cocoa Butter

8oz. Shea Butter

1 Cup Beeswax

1 teaspoon Vitamin E Oil

1 teaspoon Oatmeal Milk + Honey scent or your favorite essential oil

LET'S GET MAKING:

Get a big microwavable glass dish and put the cocoa butter, shea butter, and beeswax together. The cocoa butter was STUCK for me so I put it in the sink with hot water for about 15 minutes.

Pop it in the microwave and zap it in 45 second intervals stirring between time. When it's ready, it should look like this:

Drop in your vitamin e and scent (1 teaspoon of each- if it's an essential oil, use 20 drops) and give it one more good stir. Pour it into your molds. This batch makes exactly 6 bars if you use the above linked mold.

Let them sit for 2 hours. They may look finished before this time but it's best to wait. If you get really antsy- pop them in the fridge.

Now that they're finished (wasn't that EASY?!) it's time to wrap them up! I used wax paper and washi tape and wrapped it like a present-

TA-DA!
